Sorry(I'm not really) for being gone for almost a year. A few technical bugs still need to be worked out. I have over 200 towers in backlog.
I'll whet your appetite with this gem.
APRIL 27
Indiana................ Dow
Dow was where PRR's Richmond Branch(Cincinnati to Logansport) line crossed NYC's Michigan Branch(Marion Br.)
It stood on the Pennsy at MP 124.8 from Cincy. It used a USS electric relay machine. Dow was remoted to Delco tower at MP 122.2 in 1958 ? Someone told me that they pulled PRR passenger service on this line in 1957 so this shot is at least that old. Dow was close to Anderson IN. Dow's call letters were JR.
The passenger train shown is the PRR’s “Red Bird” which ran from Cincinnati to Chicago; daytime in both directions (Trains Nos. 70 & 71). #70
had an Anderson time of 1:27 PM, while #71 was there at 10:10 AM. As
late as 1956, #71 carried a N&W 10/6 sleeper; Norfolk to Chicago. The sleeper was handed over to the Pennsy at Cincy.....Shel Lustig NYCHS
